Hi aBUGSworstnightmare,
Thank you kindly for your reply. I am still not having any luck unfortunately
.
I have tried in the cmdline.txt, also the wayfire.ini, and I even tried the config.txt (though the documentation says that hdmi display settings are no longer supported in config.txt).
It isn't like I am trying to configure some obscure and never used resolution. It is just a standard 2560x1440 at 60hz (16:9) PC monitor! (It is a Dell U2713HM). I would argue that it is more common than 4k, and nearly as common as 1080p. Just a standard configuration.
That is why I really don't understand why I have to jump through so many hoops to try and get it working. I don't think it is the OS, as my x86_64 computer that I have recently installed Debian on can output the resolution no issue. Unless it has something to do with the Raspian port of Debian specifically I guess
It must be the hardware that isn't supported. I am trying to do all of this on a raspberry pi 5 4GB model. Other than the problem I am having with the display, I have so far been impressed with the performance. Maybe the pi 5 needs to cook for a bit longer for better display support to become a reality.
When/If I get time, I might get a fresh SD card and load a new instance of bookworm onto it and try it on my Raspberry P 3 A+ running in wayland. At least then I will (kind of) know if the problem likely lies in Wayland or the pi 5 configuration.
Thanks for the help. Happy New Year!!!!!
