Use case is basically trying to make a 1920x92 bar display work, so far the solution in Bullseye was to run at 1920x1080p with vertical scaling such that the receiver downsampling it back to 92px then comes out OK, per the recent part of this thread:

As such it appears we already have the X11 solution (or as good as we're going to get), the reason for wanting a Wayland solution is looking to the future and what's going to have best support going forward with minimal messing with the OS out of the box. The more you hack it about the harder it gets to support.
