I often create custom desktop files for specific tasks (e.g. switching input language) with hardcoded icons. I keep these desktop files in `.local/share/applications`. These desktop files correctly show up in the menu.
In Labwc, when I pin these apps to the panel, they don't have any icons (there is just an empty space in the panel, without any icon, clicking on which will open the app).
However, there is no such bug in X11. There the apps pinned to panel show their correct icons irrespective of whether the icons in the desktop file reside in something in /usr/share/icons or some hardcoded path somewhere else.
