It may be inadvisable but I often switch SD cards to a different Pi so prefer to set IP via OS rather than using the router. Now Raspberry OS has migrated to Bookworm, what are the steps to assign a static IP with the absents of the dhcpcd.conf file? Raspberry Pi Imager allows ssh to be enabled. It would be great if it allowed a static ip so one would know the address to ssh into in a headless configuration.
The official Raspberry Pi documentation is here - https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentati ... ip-address
If you wish to propose an enhancement to Raspberry Pi Imager it would be more likely to be noticed by the developers if submitted here -> https://github.com/raspberrypi/rpi-imager/issues
In modern networking environments its inadvisable to set a static IP at the host level. Static IPs should be allocated by your router, not by the host itself.
