You don't need to disable or remove NM, you can configure it to use dhcpcd instead. Install dhcpcd then, the following to the [main] section of /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.confAn alternative for changing the interface naming scheme is to use sudo raspi-config and look for "Network Interface Names" under "Advanced"
