Raspberry Pi OS • Errors using legacy archive

I need to use python 2.7 for a project, so I installed jessie on a pi3. I have edited the sources.list to:
deb http://legacy.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi

I attempted an update and got errors:
Temporary failure resolving 'legacy.raspbian.org'

This was working yesterday, but for certain reasons I needed to make a fresh install of this version of Jessie and do the installations again.

I can browse to to legacy.raspbian.org. Can someone suggest what I am doing wrong for the update to give this error?
