Raspberry Pi OS • Re: HOW-TO: Bookworm On-screen Keyboard

Hello everyone,

This is my first forum post --just got my RPi-5_bookworm yesterday and pretty excited about this!

The original solution from @terribleted worked like a charm!

My issue is: I would like to have my custom keyboard.xml layout. I changed the keyboard.xml layout accordingly, and update it /usr/share/matchbox-keyboard/keyboard.xml location.

If I run matchbox-keyboard from the terminal, I see my custom layout in effect.

However, when I use the Toggle Keyboard icon added to the launcher, it still displays the keyboard.xml layout from the original solution.

I even did that complete uninstall and re-do everything from scratch but this time used my own custom keyboard.xml layout from the beginning. The Toggle Keyboard still displays the original layout and not my custom version.

I looked into toggle-wvkbd.sh and I don't see anything specific to keyboard.xml (although i see that it is not running matchbox-keyboard but the wvkbd keyboard, which might explain why I don't see my custom keyboard. But then I don't understand what does keyboard.xml does and the step to copy that under matchbox-keyboard)

In summary: How can use this with custom keyboard.xml layout?

Thanks so much!
