Thanks a lot for your technical breakdown — it's really helpful. I’m not very involved in the details of video codecs or SoC limitations anymore, so your explanation about the Pi 5 lacking HEVC hardware encoding at 1080p60, and the fact that Pi 3 and 4 can handle 1080p30 using hardware H.264, really adds clarity.

As for my own settings: I mostly used Moonlight’s defaults. I only experimented with framerate and bitrate, increasing it up to 150 Mbps just to see if it looked better 😅. Visually, I didn't notice much improvement above 50 Mbps at 1080p30. I do see a difference between 30 and 60 FPS, but since I’m not playing fast-paced games, 30 is more than enough for me.

If you have ideas on how to communicate this kind of technical background more clearly in the guide, I’d love your input!
I have not used these SW myself, also not a gamer, but long history in thinking about how to efficiently stream camera content in my house and also via 4G mobile and even slower DSL lines. I have used OBS once to test screen streaming long time ago, was on fast Intel computer, so not looked into how to use HW codecs. Also that was X11 based, so at that time it was rather easy to grab the display contents (as non-root). But modern desktops there is a lot of permissions and security to deal with. I might do a quick test of sunshine and moonlight, but the other forum I referred to was all about ffmpeg as base tool for sunshine. I have somewhere noted down in a script or so how to grab the screen and push that to a HW encoder, but not used it. I should first do that before I would be able to make some further comments. ffmpeg can push its output to MediaMTX and that in turn can play/show it in a standard webbrowser. I use that for Pi cameras, old almost dead commercial cameras and DVB-T2 TV broadcast.
