Raspberry Pi OS • Labwc Rendering Problem?

Running an RPi 5:
Raspberry Pi 5 Model B Rev 1.0
using:
Linux version 6.12.25+rpt-rpi-2712 (serge@raspberrypi.com) (aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc-12 (Debian 12.2.0.14) 12.2.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.40) #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.12.25-1+rpt1 (2025-04-30)
I've selected:
Labwc Labwc window manager with Wayland backend
And I'm running headless using WayVNC on the RPi side and RealVNC Viewer 7.9.0 (551979) x64 (Jan 9 2024 18:29:34) on the Windows 10 64 bit side.

I've encountered a rendering problem, where the RPi colors are wrong. I'm using a solid color background. When the colors are wrong they look like this:Note the background color and the window border shading color. When the colors are right they look like this:The bad colors seem to show up after a reboot. Bringing up Appearance Settings, selecting Fill screen with image, and then selecting No Image seems to correct the problem.

I suspect that I'm using a non-standard palette, which may (or may not) be involved. It took a few days to track down the workaround.
