Back up your data, install new system, copy back your data.....this is what I do.
Otherwise, use a mSDcard/pendrive to boot the system, & keep your data on the SSD, this way you can safely update the system on the mSDcard/pendrive each time around.![Smile :)]()
P.S. I too, wish that the installer didn't automatically take over the whole drive.![Rolling Eyes :roll:]()
