Delayed thanks - must remember to tick for notifications. I'll have a look TightVNC. I'll still want an iOS client as well though.

RealVNC viewer is there in the repository and seems to work out of the box if one ignores the instructions on their web site and doesn't pay too much attention to man wayvnc.

One of the reasons I still had two Pis on Bullseye was that the wayvnc manual says the config file is in a user directory, so I assumed I couldn't leave them headless on the desktop but not logged in. (Other reason was that an application didn't work with Bookworm, but is does now).
