Shrug. Worked for me. Make sure you're actually on stable and not on testing or something?

But at this point, after marking half a dozen packages for hold and then finding that even the thought-it-was-safe ones caused stuff like rc-gui going missing, all the icons breaking, and window rendering getting broken ( https://plush.city/@LionsPhil/115351954291631557 ...the rc-gui binary removal is *intentional* it seems: https://github.com/raspberrypi-ui/rc_gu ... e2b784fb0b ), then having to restore from backup (and you'll note me lamenting I didn't tarball /boot/firmware , so I had to run a wire to do a kernel reinstall because the wireless interface broke with the slight mismatch), I decided that I'm done with RaspberryPiOS not understanding what the "stable" track is and just commented out the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list.d/raspi.list

I don't really recommend that, since that puts an end to any fixes at all, and in particular the default install has the firefox package from there; I'll need to either wait for firefox-esr from plain Debian to overtake it, or do the profile-downversion migration dance. But at least it shouldn't completely vandalize itself on a normal, non-dist upgrade any more.
