1. and 2. Yes I am using Kodi ion the raspberry Pi OS TrixieYour choice of subforum implies you're running Kodi on top of RPiOS.
On RPiOS (and most other Linux distros) /mnt is not auto populated and outside of fstab and/or systemd mount units nothing is automatically mounted on there either.*
As for /media, that's handled by the desktop's auto mounter. If you're not logged in to the desktop there's nothing to manage that for you. Even if you are, there was a changed in Trixie such that ext4 (and some other filesystems) formatted partitions are no longer mounted in this way.
So:Assuming you drive is showing in the output from lsblk you might want to mount it via your fstab. See Using fstab A Beginner's Guide
- What OS are you running?
- Which named release of that OS?
- Booting to Desktop or command line?
- What has the USB drive been formatted to?
*: Unless you've taken steps to configure your system to do otherwise.
3. I tried both.
4. FAT32
.
