Some further questions and a suggestion:
  1. Do you mean numlockx not numblockx?
  2. Which OS are you running and which named release of it?
  3. Which desktop backend are you using?
  4. You may find sections 2.2, 5, 6, 7, and 9 of Running A Program At Start Up A Beginner's Guide to be of assistance.
OP maybe was not exactly an expert... I am not, either, but I've got some more knowledge.
I'm working on a Pi5 with Raspberry OS Trixie, and for the life of me, there is no way to make numlockx work here.
I have installed numlockx with apt, it runs from command line, if I use "numlockx on" I got no message back and with "numlock status" I eventually see it is active... but numlock does not get turned on in Trixie.
I've tried setting up a service that execute the command: the service starts, displays as active, but no numlock active.
I've tried inserting the command in /etc/rc.local... same result.

There is no error displayed, in anycase everything appears to run as expected, but numlock status is always off.
No option to turn numlock is displayed in the settings.
I've tried a lot of other methods, like editing ~/.config/wayfire.ini and putting kb_numlock_default_state to true, but the file didn't exist in my system, and creating it did not change anything.
I've mady many more attempts than I can remember, nothing seems to work on Trixie.

I believe the main issue is actually that the very numlockx program isn't working on this release, so no method that is based on it would work.
And of the others that I found and tried... none worked.
Is numlockx officially broken on Trixie?
