This stickied one? I don't recall saying it's deprecated. I did say it's no longer being maintained which isn't the same thing.
Its contents are still applicable to RPiOS Trixie and baring major changes will likely to continue to be applicable to future releases.
About that last one, why is there a separate zip for something that is so simple on other OSs?
RPiOS is no different and no more and no less difficult than any other Linux distro. It's an upstream thing. If you want change you need to be raising issues with the upstream developers and the maintainers of the desktop environment.
