Tried the script today and I get the Gnome desktop but Tweaks will not run - nothing happens, and I cannot do simple things like change the background - I cannot seem to select any of the other images.

Hi @pihuck, thanks again for testing and for reporting this. 🙏

I’ve pushed a new updated version of the installer (dated 2026-02-02) with a few changes around the GNOME defaults (including Tweaks/background-related bits). I’ve done a lot of fresh test installs here, but I couldn’t reproduce the issue where GNOME Tweaks won’t open and where the wallpaper selection won’t work.

If you want to retry, please use this updated script:

Code:

wget https://wobbo.org/install/2026-02-02/install_gnome.shchmod +x install_gnome.sh./install_gnome.sh

⚠️ Important: This script is intended only for a fresh Raspberry Pi OS Lite installation. Do not run it on an existing system.

ℹ️ All additional files used by this installer are my own and are provided from wobbo.org; they are required to run Yaru correctly in GNOME: Yaru themes for GNOME, GTK, icons, sounds, and LibreOffice; supporting scripts and services to automatically apply and preserve the Yaru look; a pinned Geary version chosen specifically to maintain visual and design consistency with GNOME in Yaru style.
