Firefox runs very bad with its default config. I struggled to find a solution a lot. I confused and thought maybe i needed to install a package etc... I am using GNOME desktop with wayland. I though it may be the cause and tried the default and supported DE of Rpi. With all the default settings It was the same. In the end I had to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox settings. And this way it is usable.
So, i think hardware acceleration should be disabled by default for the users sake, because users will think Firefox doesn't work smooth on Pi and switch to Chromium.
