Treat disable_overscan=1 as disable overscan compensation.
i.e. output an image with a black border, so the edges of the image that can't be seen are just the black border.
But this is a workaround. The correct solution is to disable overscan *on the TV*.
(Almost all TV's from the last decade will allow this, but the naming of the menu option varies widely).

I'd expect so (but we are talking about software from many years ago - if all bits are from the right era, then maybe).And, as mentioned above, I would like to do this change w/o rebooting.
