Raspberry Pi OS • Performance problems with the Raspberry Pi 2B

I am new to the forums. First and foremost, thank you very much for all of your efforts in developing DietPi. It appears to be THE distribution to use, especially on older Pis. I've been experimenting with various Linux distributions over the last few days. My goal is to install desktop Linux on my Raspberry Pi 2B and run a surfbar on it using Firefox or Chrome. I've had a lot of terrible luck in recent days, as the micro SD card that I was using with an adapter broke. I will spare you the details, but it took me several hours to figure out.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the only difficulty. First, I installed the Raspberry Pi OS. Not only was it slow, but Firefox wouldn't even start. Then I found dietpi and installed DietPi_RPi-ARMv6-Bullseye.img on my Pi. I was able to set it up using a wifi dongle (albeit it took a long time to install all of the necessary software). The desktop environment is now up and running, however it is quite slow. Firefox will not begin here either. The cursor indicates that it is loading for a time, but nothing happens after that.

Is my Pi simply too old for this? Do you have any ideas about where I should start digging?
