Hmmm. I was about to say that that warning (about mktemp) has been there for a long time and we all just ignore it. The bash maintainer (Chet) doesn't think it is anything to worry about. In any case, it has always been just a warning for me and I've just ignored it.warning: the use of `mktemp' is dangerous, better use `mkstemp' or `mkdtemp'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [Makefile:635: bash] Error 1
But then I saw that for you it is an actual hard error. That's interesting. I may have to report it on the bash bug list. Do you have any further information on what version of which OS and which toolchain you are using?
In any case, yeah, I think it may be best for one to just wait until TPTB make it (bash 5.3) part of an official release.
